"Vancouver-based synth-rockers Strange Advance follow up 83's debut LP, Worlds Away, which scored Canadian gold, with this month's release entitled 2WO.  Formed in 1981 when studio-owner and keyboardist Drew Arnott joined forces with vocalist/guitarist Darryl Kromm while he was renting studio time, Strange Advance soon perfected the synth-oriented expressionistic rock for which they are now known.  Expounding on motifs introduced in Worlds Away, 2WO goes one step further combining SA's traditional expansive production (courtesy of Drew Arnott) with wistful melodies, provocative lyrics and generally up-tempo rhythms.  "We Run" comprises the first single and highlights Kromm's ethereal vocal style.  Other cuts include the oriental-flavored "The Second That I Saw You" and the haunting mid-tempo anthem "Nor Crystal Tears".  Arnott penned seven tunes with Kromm completeing the LP with three of his own.  Recorded at various locations including Vancouver, London and Toronto, 2WO features several guest musicians including guitarist Earl Slick and sports the lavvish, innovative production that fans have come to expect from Strange Advance."
